The Pilates method of conditioning is a unique system of stretching and strengthening exercises to lengthen and tone muscles, improve postural imbalances and develop flexibility and control. Similar to Yoga in its roots it seeks to unite the body and mind. Pilates Matwork is designed to strengthen and lengthen core (abdominal muscles, the upper and lower back muscles surround the hips, and the gluteal muscles). A strong core results in a healthier back, better posture and improves functional movement patterns. Individuals work at their own pace and modifications are given for all exercises to progress more quickly or to work more safely. Pilates is an excellent warm up for other exercises or great for cross training for your exciting sports conditioning program.
